Organisational Strategy

Reflecting on a preferred & probable future

"Most people trusted in the future, assuming that their preferred version of it would unfold" Jhumpa Lahiri

We support and guide organisations to create an inspiring strategic agenda, by establishing a shared vision of a preferred and probable future.

The first part establishes the 'preferred' future and involves envisioning the outcome that is most important to the organisation. The second part, captures the collective sense of 'probability' of that shared future and involves reflecting on past experiences to consider the likely outcome of that future.

This is an active inquiry into, and consideration of, what a preferred future could look like within the organisation. Together we establish needs that must be met for this future to manifest. This involves a process of Structured Foresighting in preparation for change and uncertainty, and Strategic Roadmapping, where we translate the organisation's goals and priorities into pragmatic, benchmarked and achievable opportunities,

This process of taking perspective involves stepping back from the present moment and considering what could happen in the future based on our current actions and circumstances. It requires engaging in both optimistic and realistic thinking. It can prepare us mentally and emotionally for the challenges that may arise, which can help us stay focused and resilient in the face of adversity.

Another key outcome of this process is the development of strategic leaders. Reflecting on a preferred and probable future, requires a deep level of self-awareness, insight into prevailing leadership practice, and the need to broaden perspective so they can inspire people toward a shared purpose.
