Organisations tend to believe there are two ways to achieve their goals or overcome their challenges – these are either ‘fix’ the technical - the organisational structures, processes, technology, performance/reward systems, etc., or ‘fix’ the people - their skills, behaviours, etc.
Unfortunately, most culture change or leadership development programs have been designed with this belief, which is why they don’t yield the return on the organisation’s investment. Fixing people with training and coaching, which ignores the systems and contexts they’re embedded in, is missing the full picture.
Culture Craft’s approach is not to simply ‘fix’ things. Instead, we emphasise discovering and shifting the interactions between the people and parts of the organisation; shifting the patterns of thought and behaviour which have emerged and reconstituting the roles played by people in maintaining them.
Burnout, resilience, conflict, and mental health, are symptoms that do not belong to individuals alone, they are a result of the systems and contexts these individuals are embedded in.
Our approach will:
Culture Craft's view is that leadership is not something that happens to a person; instead, it is something that happens between people. With this in mind, we believe the Art of Leadership is about balancing the needs of the organisation with the needs of its people. It is a continuous learning process that involves the ability to build trust, and foster harmony between individual interests and collective interests. The Art of Leadership is all about our relationships and connections serving as a medium to inspire others toward a common goal.
Culture Craft believes in sensitively and gradually evolving an organisation's culture, in a way that preserves that which is good.
Organisational culture evolution can be likened to the evolution of a craft. In the same way that a craft is a skill that evolves over time as new tools and techniques are discovered and integrated, an organisation's culture must evolve to accommodate new perspectives and practices.
Culture Craft combines elements of Modern Evolutionary Theory, Contextual Behavioural Science, and Economic/Political Science, to co-design particularised approaches.
This combination allows us to consider the specific actions and behaviours, the specific context in which they occurred, and the overarching enabling environment in which they occurred.
